Zac Posen at NYFW

Sandro dress, Stuart Weitzman heels, YSL bag, Lancome lipstick

The Zac Posen show was a whirlwind of gorgeous silhouettes, gauzy fabrics and embellishments; right up my alley. It was the first show I attended of the week and I kept thinking how great a Monday that was…

I have so many photos to share from NYFW in the next few days – first up this black and white lace dress look (it also comes in all black). It felt like such a French girl outfit, and let’s be real, in terms of style rules when in doubt it’s always best to just aim for the French girl look. I found this dress at Sandro two days before leaving for NYC and I’m so glad I pulled the trigger on it since I think it’ll be a go-to cocktail dress.I kept joking to Sivan (who I stayed with for the week) that I felt like a librarian but in a good way. Sophisticated, subtle, feminine, not trying too hard, kind of sexy but just by accident. It’s also the kind of dress you can make a little sweeter with a chignon and subtle makeup or dress it up with a matte red lip and bigger hair. I also love the unique lines on this other black and white Sandro dress. I paired mine with a simple black sandal.

NYFW kind of runs the gamut in terms of what to expect of style. Some girls really dress up for shows, others go more casual street style (think ripped denim and a lot of the velvet over tees trend). I follow so many bloggers and street style stars on Instagram and love seeing their take, everything from jerseys with sneakers to mixing maxi skirts with Rihanna-vibe Adidas sweatshirts (anything goes these days right?). I had a brief “is this cool enough?!” moment before leaving my hotel for the show, but at the end of the day I always go back to my true-to-heart style of more feminine and intentionally put together (I can’t help it). I spend so much time in LA in my jeans and cutoffs that I look forward to styling more elevated looks for fashion week. If not now, when? Plus, Zac was an evening show so I figured I’d make a night out of this dress.

I sat with Marianna and Krystal (she snapped these amazing runway shots below – I really should be better about bringing my big camera out with me). My favorite look was the embellished purple gown below. The embroidered and embellished details were so beautiful and almost Victorian and then I noticed it was paired with gladiator sandals! I would have never thought to do that myself, and loved it. Find more of my favorite black and white lace dresses below, plus the accessories and red lipstick I paired with mine.
