Lace on Lace

Top, Banana Republic (similar, similar). Pants, Joie (black version here). Coat, Burberry. Shoes, Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent.

I don’t have much red in my closet, but recently I’ve been drawn to the color. These Joie lace pants (on sale now!) are a fresh update on the classic workwear trouser – perfect for the office, an internship or an interview. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to wear a standard black suit; I love color too much. I also don’t think there’s anything wrong with pairing lace on lace, since both colors are contrasting yet evoke the same delicate, romantic vibe through their patterns.

My Burberry trench is one of my best investment pieces. I had wanted one for years to pair with anything from jeans and a blouse to a cocktail dress and stilettos, and finally bought the classic camel shade in Paris last summer. I dress it up or down so easily, and the cotton fabric transitions through each season (especially in Los Angeles weather). No doubt expensive, but I will have it for years.

Are you working lace into your wardrobe this season?
