I have a painted vintage print of Barbie hanging on the full-length mirror in my bedroom. It’s the Barbie image I love most: not the deeply tanned, tiny waisted and busty Malibu doll, but the classic, 1960’s representation of a refined, elegant and feminine woman. As fall fully descends on Los Angeles, I reach for more lady-like shapes and keep them lighthearted in shades of pink and nude (and a little sparkle never hurt anyone).
