This week is one of the busiest of the fashion year: New York fashion week begins! I leave for the city tomorrow and couldn’t be more excited for the shows, events and more than anything, seeing my good friends in the industry.
Preparing for NYFW is a process – aside from scheduling the week, pulling together outfits is its own beast. I tend to keep my hair and makeup simple during the day and add on more for night events. Loose waves last a couple days and are easily refreshable with some dry shampoo and texture spray. I was lucky enough to have some help from Joico while getting my hair ready for NYFW, and a visit with Joico’s celebrity colorist Denis de Souza. Here are my best tips!
1) Clear Gloss – Stop by your salon and ask for a “clear gloss” over your color. This will give your hair a fresh look, avoid fading, and seal the hair cuticles, which adds tons of shine. It’s an easy way to refresh your hair without coloring it.
2) Go Sulfate-Free – You never know what your hotel will provide in the shampoo department, so come prepared. Using a sulfate-free shampoo prevents your color from fading. Use travel-size bottles to take shampoo and conditioner – for blondes, I recommend Joico’s Color Ensure Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Conditioner.
3) Blow it Out – Bring a travel-size blow-out creme with you to replicate a salon-quality blowout. This protects against heat damage and repels dirt, leaving your hair shinier and cleaner for longer.
