As a native Angeleno I drove past Rodeo Drive everyday going to high school, hurried past the windows walking to my internship in college, and sat in traffic next to the famed Beverly Wilshire Hotel more times than I can count.
I always loved the charm and classic Californian vibe of the area but it’s easy to take for granted somewhere so picturesque when you live by it. So, it was especially fun to collaborate with the Rodeo Drive Committee on a shoot and see the famed Beverly Hills street with new eyes. It really does encompass everything idyllic about Los Angeles: the towering palm trees, glossy store windows, endless sunshine, and reminds me how lucky I am to call this city home! No wonder why thousands of tourists roam the Drive with their cameras, snapping away and posing for photos.
What most people don’t realize despite the tourism factor is how chic Rodeo really is. It’s more than just a block of designer stores lined up together; you can feel the old-school Beverly Hills glamour and I wanted to wear something that encompassed that feeling. If you’ve been to the Beverly Hills hotel and seen the pale pink exterior and palm tree covered walls, you’ll know what I mean when I say this lace dress reminds me of the whole building. It swayed in the wind and paired perfectly with the gorgeous emerald cocktail ring from Gearys that I was lucky enough to borrow for the day 😉
The second look was a bit more daytime: I wore my favorite L’agence jeans (I’ve been wearing these nonstop. Over wearing them, in fact – I should take a break). If you’re in the market for new jeans, I can’t recommend these enough. A blush-toned leather jacket and metallic sandals added a little something extra.
There was no shortage of backdrops for this shoot. Betsy and I wandered from corner to corner, stopping to exclaim “this is it!” “No, this is the spot!” I hope you enjoy this peek into Rodeo!
