Summer Crushes

I stopped by Intermix today and swooned over all the new pre-fall merchandise. Luxe leather pants, faux fur vests and cashmere pullovers are beginning to line the shelves, and summery sandals and dresses are making their way towards the sale racks. While I’m tempted to try on each suede jacket and knee-high boot that crosses my path, the eighty degree weather outside doesn’t exactly welcome them into my current rotation of outfits. It’s still the middle of summer here in Los Angeles, as well as in most parts of the world. So, I thought I’d put together a mix of breezy, colorful options to take you through the last month of the season.

I would wear this look to an evening summer soirée. A floral maxi dress is not only a summer staple, it can take you straight into fall with a jacket and shoe swap. Nude sandals match everything and blend in subtly, leaving your nails and lips free for some hot pink shine. Dress, A.L.C. Earrings, Oscar de la Renta (similar). Clutch, Roberto Cavalli. Sandals, Michael Kors. Makeup: Nars.

This Topshop dress is so feminine and inviting. Color-wise, you’re free to explore with accessories, especially while keeping the shoe a basic tone. I chose this gorgeous YSL statement ring, that happens to match a mint nail. I am also recently so impressed with Coach’s new Legacy handbag collection, which has been earning attention everywhere from Teen Vogue to Lucky Magazine.  The bags are timeless yet fun, especially with the rainbow range of colors and cute tassels. I chose a happy yellow shade. Dress, Topshop. Ring, YSL. Bag, Coach. Sandals, Pour La Victoire. Polish, Illamasqua.

Floral jeans were definitely a “thing” this summer, and it’s easy to see why. These Dolce & Gabbana capris are bold and loud, yet still manage to appear refined and elegant. Many floral jeans are on summer sale now, and who doesn’t love a great deal? I recently purchased this Anthropologie top, and can’t stop wearing it.  The peplum is so flattering and of-the-moment. I couldn’t resist pairing the look with these bright Louboutin sandals, no matter how much of a splurge they are. Pants: Dolce & Gabbana. Shoes, Louboutin. Bag, Proenza Schouler. Bracelet, Michael Kors. Makeup: YSL.

What are you mixing and matching this summer? Leave a comment and let me know!
