The Ruffian runway show was a presentation of unique looks unlike anything I had seen from other designers during Fashion Week. The two masterminds behind the label, Brian Wolk and Claude Morais, describe their style as a “juxtaposition between the improvised and the studied,” and it’s easy to see why. The clothes drew references to old cinema, European royalty (check out the Marie Antoinette-sized hair on those girls!) and even classic American iconography. Each look may not be something I’d throw on for a Starbucks run, but they’re definitely thought-provoking, beautifully cut pieces of art.
See the slideshow below for what I wore to the show! (Anthropologie, Theory, Prada, Miu Miu)
The gorgeous program. I love the background print and elegant font.
The models’ view coming down the runway: the photography pit.
Big hair, red lips, cropped top.
Gorgeous jewelry complimenting the outfits.
Love this model’s hair color!
A great pastel pink suit in a luxurious fabric.
This dress reminds me of what I wore to my fairy-themed tenth birthday party, but fit for an grown-up with a ladylike jacket and major updo.
A fantastic finale.
A wave from the designer duo.
Welcome to the inside of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week tent!
It wouldn’t be MBFW without a giant Mercedes inside the tent.
The Maybelline-sponsored makeup counter, where a vending machine spit out free products to show-goers! Didn’t complain about that.
